Samar Seed Store

Samar Seed Store is located in Kotfathui, right here in the Hoshiarpur area. We’re quite close to the State Bank of India, which makes it easy for farmers to stop by after they finish their banking business. The shop is full of the smell of earth and dried seeds, which is something I’ve grown to love over the years. We don't have any big marketing plans or shiny brochures. We just have bags of seeds stacked up against the walls and a few old chairs for people to sit on while they wait. Most of our day is spent talking to folks about the weather and when they’re planning to sow their next crop. It’s a simple business, really. We get the seeds in, we check them, and we sell them to the people who need them. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic or the rain, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a local place where everyone knows everyone’s name. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We’re just here to help the local farmers get what they need for their fields. The floor is usually a bit dusty, and the lights are a little dim, but it’s our place and we’re proud to keep it running. In a small town like this, your reputation is just based on being there and being honest about what you’ve got in stock for the season.
