We are located in a small place called Kokalunda, which is under the Po-Bellaguntha in the Ganjam district of Orissa. Our office is actually care of Iswar Chandra Barad’s place. It’s a very rural area, quite far from the big urban centers. Life moves at a different pace here. V.M. Salgaocar & Bro. has been operating in this region for some time now. We don't have a high-rise office or a fleet of fancy cars. We mostly deal with the local requirements of the business right from this spot. The surroundings are green and quiet, which is nice for working. We spend our days managing whatever comes across the desk, mostly paperwork related to our operations in the district. It’s a lot of manual record-keeping and staying in touch with the main office. We don't use much marketing jargon because everyone here knows everyone anyway. It’s about being present and doing what needs to be done. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the internet is slow, but we just work around it. It’s a very humble setup. We don't try to sound more important than we are. We are just a part of the local landscape in Ganjam, doing our bit and keeping things moving. If you were to visit, you’d just see a normal house where business happens every day. It’s a practical way to run things in this part of Orissa.
