Smec

For those of us at Smec, our home base is in Berhampur, Orissa. Specifically, we are over in Basudeb Nagar, within the Khodasingi area. The setup is quite personal, as we operate out of the C/O Antaryami Panda location. Berhampur is a place with a lot of history and a very specific feel to it. It’s not like the big metros; it’s more about the local connections and the people you see every day on the street. We’ve got the 760010 pin code, and most of the mail carriers know exactly where we are by now. We aren't interested in sounding like a big multinational. We are just a local operation. The office isn't anything special to look at, but it’s where we do all our thinking and planning for Smec. It can get a bit humid here, and the power goes out once in a while, but we just work around it like everyone else in the neighborhood. We know the neighbors, and they know us. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a tea around the corner and talk about the day's work. We don't have a lot of complicated rules. We just show up at Basudeb Nagar and get started. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but we stay busy enough. Being part of the Orissa community is important to us, and we just try to be a reliable part of the local scene.
