Torrent Pharma

We are basically based at 32 No. Middle Camp, right along the NH-31A. Our address is a bit funny because the road name gets repeated a lot on our mail, but it’s just how things are marked out here in Sikkim. This place is where Torrent Pharma does its daily work. We aren't in the middle of a big city, so we don’t have to deal with the usual urban noise, though the highway brings its own sound of heavy trucks going up toward Gangtok. The buildings are built for utility, with plenty of space for the machines and the storage areas. Inside, the floors are kept very clean, and everyone wears their gear to make sure the medicines are handled right. It’s a lot of routine work, checking temperatures and making sure the packing lines don't jam up. We don't have a lot of fancy office furniture or decorations; it’s mostly just desks, computers, and the equipment we need for production. Lunchtime is usually when we catch up on local news or talk about the weather, which changes every ten minutes in the mountains. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady and we’ve all been here for a while. Sometimes when the fog is thick, you can barely see the other side of the road, but the work inside goes on just the same.
