Chittlangia Cotton Ginning & Pressing Factory

Our factory is located right on National Highway 15. You really cannot miss the place because of all the large cotton trucks parked out front, especially during the peak season. It is a big, open space where we have the ginning and pressing machines set up. Chittlangia Cotton is a family business that we have been doing for a long time. It gets very dusty inside, particularly when we are processing the raw cotton that comes straight from the fields. We all usually wear old scarves over our faces to try and keep the white fluff out of our lungs. The highway is always noisy with trucks going back and forth all day and night. We have a small, cramped office near the main gate where we weigh the loads and sign the papers. It is a lot of hard physical work and very long hours once the harvest starts coming in. We do not have any air conditioning in the main shed, so we just leave the big doors wide open to let the breeze through. It is a bit rough around the edges, with grease on the floors and piles of cotton seeds in every corner. We are not really worried about how the place looks to outsiders as long as the cotton gets pressed and baled correctly. It is a tough way to make a living but it is what we know.
