Murugan Textile Corporation

Murugan Textile Corporation is over at No. 26 C No. 10 Cut Road in Gandhipuram. It is right in the middle of all the action. If you know the area, you know how many shops are packed into these streets. Our place is full of rolls of fabric and the smell of cotton. It can get quite dusty with all the threads flying around. We spend our mornings checking the stock and talking to the people who bring the goods in. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. We don’t have a fancy cooling system, just the big old ceiling fans that hum all day long. Sometimes we lose track of time when we are counting meters or checking for flaws in the cloth. It’s honest work. We’ve been on Cut Road for a long time now. We know the other shop owners and we see the same delivery guys every week. Sometimes the traffic is so bad that the trucks can't get close, and we have to carry things by hand. It’s just part of the job. We don’t put on any acts here. We just show the fabric, tell you the price, and get it packed up. It is a simple way to run a business. We like the noise of the market and the way the sun hits the street in the afternoon.
