Working out of the GIDC Electronic Estate in Sector-25 has its good and bad points. Sonic Technology (India) Inc. isn't some giant tech firm with glass walls and fancy lobbies. We’re in a block here with a lot of other industrial units doing similar things. It’s mostly testing circuit boards and looking at tiny components under bright lights all day. The air conditioning in the back room struggles sometimes when it gets really hot outside, which makes it a bit rough for the guys. We deal with a lot of very specific electronic parts. The shelves are full of plastic bins with labels that only we really understand. It’s mostly quiet work, except for when the testing machines are running their cycles. We’ve got a small team here and we mostly just focus on getting the orders out to the clients who need them. We don’t do much advertising or anything like that. People usually call us because someone else told them we might have what they need in stock. It’s a very practical setup. We have a small table in the corner where we take our breaks and talk about whatever is happening. The floor is just plain concrete and we try to keep the dust down because it’s bad for the electronics. Sometimes parts get delayed from the suppliers and we have to explain that to folks, which is never a fun conversation. It’s just how things go in this kind of business.
