SMEC Electronics is based at Plot No. A-3 in the GIDC Electronics Estate over in Sector-25. Being in an electronics estate means we are surrounded by similar businesses. It is a fairly large plot, so we have a bit more room than some of the downtown offices. We have got a mix of office space and a workshop area. Most of the time, the guys are out in the back working on boards or checking equipment. It is not the quietest place because there is always some machine humming or someone testing a component. We keep it pretty casual here. Nobody wears a suit unless they absolutely have to for a formal meeting. We are usually in jeans and t-shirts. The break room is just a corner with a fridge and a microwave where we all eat lunch. We have been here in Sector-25 for quite a few years now. The estate is a bit out of the way, but it is good for getting work done without too many distractions. We have a lot of shelves filled with parts and tools. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what we are looking for, but we get there. We do not have any big corporate slogans on the walls. It is just a place where we come to build and fix things. We are a local group of people who know our way around a circuit board. It is a steady job. (252 words)
