Owncare Foundation

We're based out of Amina Bibi's house in Hatiberia. If you know the Gandhinagar Colony area, you've probably walked right past us without even realizing it. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy out front. This is just where we live and work every day. Hatiberia is a tight-knit place, and everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We started this because we saw things that needed fixing right here in the village. It didn't make sense to wait for someone from the big city to come down and help us. We figured we could do it ourselves. It's mostly just about looking out for the people next door. We spend a lot of time just talking to neighbors and seeing who needs a hand with what. Sometimes it's about health, sometimes it's just getting someone to the right office for their paperwork. We aren't experts in everything, far from it. We make mistakes sometimes, but we’re learning as we go. The house is always a bit noisy and there’s always someone coming by for a cup of tea or a chat. That’s how we like it though. It’s better than sitting in some cold office somewhere else. We’re part of this colony, and we just want to make sure people are taken care of properly. It's hard work sometimes, but it’s our community. We're not going anywhere else. This is where we belong.
