Ashima Paints Ind. is spread across Plot No. 3312-22 in Phase 4. Having a range of plots gives us a bit more breathing room for the mixing tanks. Making paint is a messy job, so there are always splashes of color on the floor. We mix a lot of different batches here. Some days it’s all white, other days it’s bright blues or reds. We have large stirrers that run for hours to get the consistency right. The air smells like solvent and pigment. It’s a smell you get used to after a week of working here. We have a small lab area where we check the colors against the samples. It's not high-tech, just a few light boxes and some charts. We stack the tins on wooden pallets and wrap them in plastic. Our trucks come in the morning to pick up the orders. The guys in the warehouse know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to an outsider. We’ve been at this for quite some time now. We don't do a lot of advertising. Most of our customers have been buying from us for years. We just try to make a decent product that works for what they need. It’s a straightforward business. No bells or whistles. We just show up and do the work. It's a long day, but we manage to get everything out the door.
