Changodar is a place where everyone is busy making something, and we are no different over here at Panchrama Industrial Estate. Our building, 40 A, is filled with foam. It comes in these massive blocks and long sheets that we have to move around carefully. It’s funny because foam is light, but when you have a whole stack of it, it gets pretty awkward to handle. Umiya Flexifoam is basically a warehouse with some machines for cutting and shaping. The floor is concrete and stays a bit cool even when it is hot outside. We wear sturdy shoes because you never know what you might step on. There is always a layer of tiny foam bits on our clothes by lunch. We don't really have a front desk or a lobby. If someone comes to see us, they usually just walk into the main work area and find one of us near the cutters. We spend a lot of time checking the density and making sure the sizes are what they are supposed to be. It is a lot of measuring and re-measuring. Sometimes the trucks arrive late, so we end up staying a bit longer to get everything loaded. It is just the way it goes in an industrial area like this. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day without too much fuss. It is a lot of physical labor but it keeps us going.
