Abyss School Of Music

We are on the first floor of Ekta Palace, which is right across from Chappaiya Dham. It’s near the Bapa Sitaram Chowk in the Nava Naroda and Krishna Nagar area. If you come up the stairs, you’ll usually hear a mix of different sounds coming from the rooms. Someone might be practicing the guitar in one corner while a drum kit is going in another. It’s never really quiet here until late at night when we close up. We aren't a big academy with a lobby or a fancy receptionist. It’s more of a place where people just show up to learn an instrument they like. The rooms are a bit small and we have instruments leaning against the walls everywhere you look. Sometimes the strings break or a piano goes out of tune because of the heat, so we are always fixing something or other. People of all ages come in. Some are just kids whose parents want them to have a hobby, and others are older folks who always wanted to play a song. It’s a bit messy with all the cables and music stands, but it feels like a real workshop. We don't have a big sign outside, just enough for you to find the door. The teachers here just love music and don't care much for formalities. You might find us drinking tea and talking about old songs between the lessons. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere.
