Vandhiya Salt Works

The office for Vandhiya Salt Works is in Shop No. 11 of Sahil Apartment. We take up Plots 17 and 18 here in Ward 12 B. If you know Gandhidham, you know it’s a place where things are always moving, especially with all the salt and industrial work around here. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside. It’s just a solid place where we handle the business side of things. There’s usually a bit of salt dust on the floor no matter how much we sweep, but that’s just part of the job when you’re in this trade. The Kachchh sun can be really something else, so we’re glad for the shade the apartment building provides in the late afternoon. We have some heavy metal desks and a lot of ledgers because we still like to keep track of things on paper sometimes. It feels more real that way. The guys come in and out all day with reports from the worksites. We sit around the small table in the back to discuss what needs to happen next. It’s a lot of talk about logistics and timing. We’ve been in this ward for a while, and we know the rhythms of the neighborhood. It’s a hard-working area, and we fit right in with the rest of the businesses. We just put our heads down and get the work done, simple as that.
