Shivam Textiles

Shivam Textiles is located right in the heart of the Main Bazar in Gandhidham-kachchh. Our shop number is C-56, and you can’t miss it if you walk down the main row. We’ve got rolls of fabric stacked up everywhere you look. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than two customers come in at once, but we make it work. We handle all sorts of materials, from heavy cottons to lighter synthetics. The air in the shop always has a bit of lint floating in it, which is just part of the textile trade. We’ve been here for years, and we’ve seen the market change as new shops open up nearby. We don’t do any fancy window displays or have mannequins dressed up in the latest styles. We just show the fabric as it is. Most of our customers are local tailors or families looking for material for their homes. We spend our days unrolling cloth, measuring it out, and cutting it with the big heavy shears we’ve had since we started. It’s a simple process. We don't have a big staff, just me and a couple of helpers who know where every single roll is hidden in the stacks. Sometimes we have to climb up a ladder to get the one at the very top. It’s a lot of physical work, but we enjoy being part of the bustle of the Gandhidham market. It’s a steady business that keeps us connected to the community.
