Saffire Apparels

Saffire Apparels is located in Shed No. 415, within Sector 3kandla Special Economic Zonegandhidham- Kachchh. Working in an SEZ is a bit different because of all the security and the rules, but we have been here for a while now. The shed is quite large, which is good because we have a lot of sewing machines and cutting tables set up. Kachchh can get incredibly hot, especially in the middle of the year, so we have big industrial fans going all the time to keep the air moving for the staff. It is not a glamorous job. We spend our days looking at patterns and piles of fabric. Everything is about meeting the shipping deadlines since we are in a trade zone. We don't have a marketing department or a polished brand story. We are just a group of people working in a big metal shed in the desert. Sometimes the dust from the surrounding plains gets inside, and we have to clean everything down before we start work. It is a very practical environment. We have tea breaks together in the small area near the back door. We just try to keep the production line moving and make sure the quality is decent before the goods are loaded onto the containers for export. It is hard work, but we just stay focused on the task at hand and ignore the heat.
