Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd.

We are over at Village Mithi Rohar, out in the Gandhidham part of Kachchh. The address is Survey No. 217/2. It’s a bit of a distance out there, but that’s where Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd has been for a while. The landscape is pretty flat and the air has that coastal feel to it, being where it is. Some days the wind really picks up across the open spaces and you can feel the salt in the air. It's not exactly in the middle of a big city, which has its ups and downs, but it works for us. You get used to the long drive after a few months. Most of the people around here are doing the same kind of work, so there's a bit of a community even if the plots are spread out. We spend a lot of time just keeping things running at the site. It’s a large plot and there is always something that needs fixing or looking at on a daily basis. The village itself is quiet most of the time, except for when the shift changes happen and the buses come through. It’s a straightforward place, really. No one here is trying to be something they aren’t. We just show up at the survey number, do what needs doing, and head home. Kachchh can be a tough place with the heat and weather, but you get a certain kind of rhythm going. It’s just the way it is at Mithi Rohar.
