Prabhat Time

Prabhat Time is a small, quiet shop located at S-12 in Gandhidham. We have been operating in this part of the Kachchh district for a long time now. The shop is mainly just a couple of glass counters and a big wall full of various clocks that all seem to tick at slightly different times. It makes a very strange rhythmic sound if you sit still long enough to actually listen to it. Most people come into the shop because they need a new leather strap for their watch or because the movement inside has stopped working and needs a look. We use these very tiny screwdrivers and small metal tweezers that are very easy to lose if you are not being careful. The whole space feels a bit old-fashioned, and we honestly haven't changed much about the layout or the furniture in many years. We do not have a computer system to track everything; we still write down every job in a big, heavy ledger book with a pen. Sometimes people bring in old wall clocks that are almost bigger than the person carrying them through the door. We then have to find some extra space on the floor just to take them apart and see what is wrong inside. The lighting in the shop is not the best, so we always have to use a small desk lamp for the really fine work. It gets quite hot in the summer months, and we just have one small fan that wobbles a lot when it's on.
