If you find yourself at Chawla Chowk in Gandhidham, you’ll probably see our shop, S-42-42. We are right in the middle of all the action in that part of Kachchh. It’s a noisy spot because of all the rickshaws and bikes honking at the intersection, but it keeps things interesting. Our shop is filled with all the usual stuff you’d expect to find in a stationary place. We have stacks of paper, boxes of pens, and notebooks piled up almost to the ceiling in some corners. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at the same time. We don't have a computer system for our sales; we just write everything down in a big ledger book at the end of the day. The shelves are made of wood and they’ve started to sag a bit from the weight of the paper, but they hold up well enough. We’ve known the families in this neighborhood for years, and we see the same faces every week. Some days we just spend time reorganizing the pens because they always seem to get mixed up. It’s a small, dusty shop but it’s ours. We don't have any big plans to expand or move. We like being at Chawla Chowk where everyone can find us easily. It’s just a regular, local business doing what we’ve always done.
