Kandla Special Economic Zone Industries Association

The Kandla Special Economic Zone Industries Association is housed in the K. F. T. Z. I. A. Building. We’re located right inside the Kandla Special Economic Zone in Gandhidham. It’s a unique place to work because of all the security and the sheer size of the zone. Our building is where a lot of the administrative work for the local industries happens. It’s not a factory itself, but we are surrounded by them. There is always a lot of paperwork on our desks. Since we deal with an association of different businesses, we spend a lot of time coordinating between different people. The office is full of filing cabinets and old records. It feels like a place where things have been done a certain way for years. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some maps of the zone and a few calendars on the walls. Outside, you can hear the big trucks moving toward the port in Kachchh. It’s a constant rumble. We have meetings here sometimes, where people from the different factories come to discuss things like water supply or road repairs. It’s very practical work. We don't have a lot of staff, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to fixing the printer. It’s a busy environment but we’ve got a good handle on how the zone operates after all this time.
