You can find us over at D. B. Z-South-151. We deal with the heavy machines that move dirt and clear land for building. It’s a messy business because there is always mud or dust involved depending on the season. Our office is more of a place where we keep the logs and take calls. Most of the time, the excavators and earth movers are out on a job site somewhere in the region. We have been doing this for several years now. It started with just one machine and we slowly added more over time as the demand grew. The yard can get quite loud when we are doing maintenance on the engines or fixing a hydraulic line. Heavy machinery breaks down more often than you would think, so we spend a lot of time with grease on our hands. We don’t have a big staff, just a few reliable operators and someone to handle the scheduling. It’s a tough line of work and the hours can be long if a project is running behind. Sometimes we have to work through the weekends if the weather is good. Rain is our biggest enemy because it turns every site into a swamp. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the equipment in good shape for the next morning. The machines are expensive to keep up, but they get the job done when the ground is dry enough.
