You can find us at Shop Number 29 in the Paras Market. We are right on N H Road and pretty much opposite the railway station here in Gandhidham. Being so close to the station means there is never a quiet moment. You hear the trains coming in and the whistles all day long. Kachchh is a dry place, so we deal with a lot of dust coming in from the main road. We spend a good chunk of our morning just wiping down the counters and the items on the shelves. The market is an old one and it has its own rhythm. Everyone knows everyone else's business. We have been sitting in this shop for a long time now. It has got that old-fashioned feel where you know where every single screw and box is hidden away. When the trains arrive, the whole road gets filled with people, and sometimes they wander into the market to look around. We talk to whoever comes in, whether they are buying or just asking for directions. It is not a complicated way to live. We have our tea, we talk to the other shopkeepers, and we handle the customers as they come. The building is nothing special to look at, but it is sturdy and keeps the sun off our heads. That is about all you need for a business like ours. We just keep moving forward.
