We’ve been here at shop 9/10 in sector 9b for a good while now. It’s right behind the Gokul Hotel near the national highway in Gandhidham. The location is busy because of all the trucks coming off the highway, so there is always a lot of dust and noise around the shop. We deal with diesel engine parts and repairs mostly. Usually, the day starts early when the first few drivers pull up needing something fixed so they can get back on the road. The shop isn’t fancy or anything. There are tools scattered on the benches and old parts like pistons and valves sitting in the corners. We spend most of our time with grease on our hands and oil under our fingernails. Kutch gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full blast while we work on the fuel pumps or injectors. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. We don't really have a big office, just a desk where we keep the ledger and take calls on an old phone. Sometimes it gets crowded inside when a few people arrive at once, but we just manage. The floors stay a bit stained from the oil, no matter how much we sweep. People know where to find us because we've stayed in this same spot for years. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes in. It’s a simple setup but it works for what we need to do every day here.
