H Ramchand

H Ramchand has been sitting at C-105 in Gandhidham-Kachchh for quite a while now. If you’ve ever been out this way, you know how the dust gets everywhere because of the dry wind blowing in from the flats. It’s a quiet enough spot, tucked away from the main chaos of the port traffic but still close enough that you can hear the heavy engines in the distance. The office isn't much to look at, just a sturdy door and some windows that we have to wipe down every single morning. Inside, there are stacks of old ledgers and some newer computers that look a bit out of place against the heavy wooden furniture. We don't have a big reception area or a coffee machine that does anything fancy. Mostly, it’s just the sound of someone typing or the ceiling fan whirring overhead to keep the afternoon heat away. People stop by, usually looking for directions or to drop off some paperwork, and we just point them the right way. It feels like a lot of the other places in Gandhidham, where the work is steady and the days blend into one another. We don’t go in for big signs or bright lights. The small board outside has the name on it, though the sun has faded the letters a bit over the seasons. It’s just where we come to work and deal with the day’s tasks.
