Our place is Shed No. 237, Sector Lll, in the Kandla Economic Zone over in Gandhidham. It is a big industrial area, so it’s mostly just sheds and trucks as far as you can see. The dust in Kachchh can be something else, especially when the wind picks up, so we are constantly wiping down the desks and the equipment. Inside Shed 237, it is pretty much all business. We have the space divided up so we can keep the raw materials on one side and the finished stuff on the other. It gets really hot under the metal roof during the summer months, but we have some big fans that keep the air moving a little. We spend a lot of time dealing with the paperwork for the economic zone and making sure everything is ready for the inspectors. It’s not the kind of place where you’d bring someone for a fancy lunch. We usually just bring our own tiffins and eat in the small break area we cleared out in the corner. Working in Gandhidham means you get used to the long roads and the dry heat. We have a good group of people here who just show up, do their shift, and head home to their families. Guardan Textiles has been in this shed for a while now, and we have our routine down pretty solid. It is hard work, but it keeps us busy.
