Our office is out at Plot No. 14, Survey No. 98, which is near the Sharma Resorts in Galpadar. It is a bit of a drive out into the Gandhidham-Kachchh area. The landscape around here is quite dry, and the wind blows the salt and dust across the road pretty frequently. Being near the resort makes it easier to tell people where we are, otherwise they might get lost in the middle of all the open land. We have a decent-sized yard where the trucks come in to load and unload. The sun is very strong in this part of Gujarat, so we try to do the heavy outdoor work early in the morning before it gets too hot. Our office room is basic, with a few cupboards for files and a calendar on the wall that is usually a month behind. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking logs for shipments. It is a quiet place compared to the big cities, but there is a lot of movement because of the port and the highway. Sometimes stray dogs come into the yard to find shade under the trailers. We don't have a lot of visitors, mostly just drivers and the occasional contractor. We keep a large earthen pot of cool water in the corner for anyone who is thirsty. It is a simple setup, and we prefer it that way. We just focus on getting the containers moved and keeping track of the inventory coming through the gate.
