You can find Chandanmal Parasmal Jain right in the middle of the Main Market in Gandhidham, Kachchh. We are at units D-72 and 73. It is a very busy spot, especially in the afternoons when everyone is out doing their shopping. We have been here in Gandhidham for a long time. The shop is full of all kinds of stock, piled up on shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. It is a family-run kind of place. We open up the shutters early and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the late evening. There is always someone coming in to ask for something specific. We try to keep a bit of everything that people around here might need for their daily lives. The floor is made of old stone and it has seen a lot of feet over the years. We sit on the wooden stools behind the counter and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the main road, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We know most of the other shopkeepers around us well. We talk about the weather or the local news while we have our lunch. It is a steady rhythm. Some days are very hectic with deliveries arriving, and other days we just tidy up the stacks of goods. We do not change things much around here. It works for us.
