Our place is located in the Kandla Economic Special Zone, at Shed No. A-1/292 in Sector 1. Being in an SEZ means there is a lot of security and paperwork just to get in and out, which is something we deal with every single day. The environment in Gandhidham is quite harsh, with all the salt in the air and the sun beating down on the sheds. We are involved in processing and moving goods for the international market. Inside the shed, it’s mostly about sorting, packing, and making sure everything is ready for the containers. We have a small office tucked in the corner, but most of the action happens on the main floor. The wind in Kachchh can be really strong, blowing dust into the shed whenever the doors are open. We spend a lot of time checking labels and counting boxes to make sure nothing is missing. It’s a lot of logistical work, coordinating with the port and the customs people. It’s not an easy location to work in because of the weather, but we’ve been here for a while and we know how to handle it. There’s no fancy furniture or air conditioning in the workspace, just fans and the sound of the forklifts. We just do our part in the global chain, keeping things moving through the zone without making a big deal out of it.
