Bapu's Shipping Agency

Our agency is a bit further out than most, located at Survey No. 26/5 on the National Highway Extension. We are in the village of Galpadar, which is part of the Gandhidham Taluka. It has a different feel being out by the highway compared to the center of town. We have more room for trucks to pull over near the office. The building is a basic structure where we handle all our shipping agency tasks and paperwork. You can hear the big rigs driving past all day long. It gets quite dusty because of all the road traffic, so we are always having to wipe down the desks. We handle the logistics and local representation for different vessels. It’s practical work that often requires us to be available at some pretty odd hours. Being in Galpadar means we are close to the main transport routes, which is helpful for our day-to-day operations. The staff here is mostly local people who grew up right here in the Kachchh region. We don't have any corporate protocols or fancy meetings; we just talk to each other and get the work finished. There’s a small patch of ground outside where we sometimes sit and have tea during our breaks. The building is very simple, and we like it that way. It’s all about being functional and being where the transport is actually happening. Every day brings a different set of challenges with the cargo that needs to be moved through the area.
