Akshay Roalines

Our office is out in Gandhidham, right in the Maritime House Building. It’s plot 45 in Sector 9. If you are driving on N.H. Way 8, you can’t really miss the turn-off. The area is always full of trucks and big containers moving around because of the port. It gets very hot here in Kachchh, so we usually have the AC running as much as the power allows. The building is a bit older, but it serves us well for the transport business. We spend a lot of time on the phones talking to drivers or checking where the loads are. There is a lot of dust from the highway that gets into the office if we leave the windows open. We’ve got a few desks pushed together and maps on the wall so we know the routes. People stop by to drop off papers or just to have a quick chat about the road conditions. It isn't a quiet place. You can always hear the sound of the big engines outside. We have been in this spot for some time now. It’s a practical location because it’s so close to the main road. Getting in and out is easy for the trailers. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just the basics like chairs and a water cooler that we have to refill twice a day. It is just a regular workplace where we manage the roalines.
