Our factory is tucked away in Moti Bhoyan village. It’s right on the Kalol-Khatraj Road, which gets pretty busy with trucks and commuters heading into town. Being out here at number 727/C in the Taluka of Kalol means we have a bit more space than the city businesses, but it also means a lot of dust from the road. We spend our days making polypacks for various uses. The machines are loud and the floor is usually covered in some kind of material, but that’s just how a factory works. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We aren't fancy people. We wear our work clothes and get our hands dirty every single day. The sun gets really hot in the afternoons, especially inside the sheds, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We don't have a big front office with a receptionist. Usually, if you show up, you’ll just find someone in the back managing the production. We make sure the bags are strong enough for whatever they’re going to hold. It’s simple work but it needs to be done right. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a big order to finish for a customer. We’ve been at this for a while and we know the machines inside out. It’s just a regular life for us, making things that people use and then throw away without thinking twice.
