Sri Venkateshwara Bus Service is based on New Kampo Street No.1 in Parlakhimundi. Being in the Gajapathi district, things are a bit different than the big cities. We deal with buses every day, so there is always the smell of diesel and the sound of engines idling nearby. Our spot is right there at 761200. It’s a busy street, especially when the buses are getting ready to head out on their routes. We spend a lot of time checking schedules and making sure the drivers are ready to go. It is a lot of coordination. The office is small and usually has a lot of people popping in and out to ask about timings or routes. We don't have fancy leather chairs or a receptionist. Usually, someone is just standing behind the counter with a logbook. It gets dusty because of the road, so we are always cleaning the desks. The weather in this part of Odisha can be quite rough during the monsoon, which makes everything harder for the buses. We just try to keep things on time as much as the roads allow. It's a lot of work to keep things running, but we’ve been doing it for a long time. People around here know our name. We are just a local operation doing our part. The fans are always humming and there's a stack of old tickets on the shelf. That’s just how the office looks.
