The gate at Survey No. 737/123 stays open most of the day because of the trucks coming in and out. Being on Gadwal Road means there is always noise from the passing vehicles. Inside the shed, the machines are usually running by eight in the morning. It gets quite warm inside during the summer months, so we keep the big fans going all the time. We do mostly industrial work here, processing and making sure everything is sorted correctly. The floor is concrete and has some cracks in it from over the years, but it works fine for what we need. Workers bring their lunch boxes and sit under the tree near the entrance when it is time for a break. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small cabin in the corner where the paperwork is kept in old metal cupboards. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet for a while, which is actually a bit of a relief for the ears. We handle a lot of heavy lifting and moving stuff around on pallets. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. Most of the guys have been working here for years and they know exactly how the old machines sound when something is about to get stuck. We don't really have a website or anything like that, we just deal with the people who come to the gate. It's a straightforward place with no nonsense. We just keep our heads down and do the work until it is time to go.
