Vivek General Stores

This is Vivek General Stores. We are based in Shirol, right near the Tehsil Karyalay. If you know the Navin Vasahat area in Chandgad, you will find us easily enough. It’s a family business through and through. We sell almost everything a household needs, from soap and tea to local grains and pulses. The shop is part of our house, so we are open quite early in the morning and stay open late. My father started this place many years ago, and now I help him out with the daily running. Kolhapur district gets very busy during the festival seasons, and our store is no different. We have bags of rice and flour stacked up in the corner most of the time. Sometimes it’s a bit cramped in here when three or four people come in at once. We don't have fancy barcodes or scanners here. We just know where everything is kept and we write down the bills by hand in a ledger. People come here to chat as much as they do to shop for groceries. We hear all the local news sitting here behind the wooden counter. The location near the Tehsil office means a lot of people passing by stop for a cold drink or a pack of biscuits. We try to keep the shelves stocked, but sometimes the supply truck from the city takes its time to reach us. It's just a regular village store doing its best.
