Shree Mahalaxmi Food Products

We are out in Shendri Village at Plot No-G-12/1. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city of Kolhapur, but we like being out here in Gadhinglaj Taluka. The air is a bit fresher, though the roads can be a bit bumpy depending on the season. Our unit is right near the Shendri Post Office, which is handy for when we need to send out paperwork. Being a food products business, we have to be very careful with cleanliness, so we spend a lot of time scrubbing floors and washing equipment. The village life is slower, but our work isn't. We are usually busy processing whatever is in season. Most of the people working here are from the local area, so we all know each other's families. It feels more like a community than a company sometimes. We have our small lunch breaks under the shade outside when it gets too hot in the building. The sound of the birds and the occasional tractor passing by is what we hear mostly. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the food items are packed correctly and ready for the trucks to take them to the markets. It’s simple work, but it takes all day to get it right. Some days the rain makes the yard a bit muddy, but we just put on our boots and keep moving. The post office is close enough that we can just walk over if we need anything delivered to the office.
