Vanita Cold Drinks

Vanita Cold Drinks is right near the bus stand in Yellapur, at 874/4. Because we are so close to where the buses come in, there is always a layer of dust on everything, so we spend half our day with a rag in our hands. The noise from the engines and the conductors shouting never really stops until late at night. It’s a dusty, hot part of Yellapur, but it’s where we are. We keep the drinks as cold as the machines will allow. It’s not a glamorous job, just standing there and moving crates around. We see a lot of tired people coming off the buses looking for something to cut the heat. We don't talk much, just keep the bottles moving. The building itself is older, and sometimes the roof leaks a bit when it rains hard, but we’ve patched it up. It’s just a regular local business. We don't have a website or any of that. Most people just find us because they’re thirsty and we happen to be right there by the station. We’ve been here long enough that we know the bus drivers by sight. It’s a simple routine of opening up, stocking the coolers, and watching the buses go in and out of the yard all day long. Sometimes we sit on a crate when it's slow and just watch the people rush by to catch their ride.
