If you’re looking for Indian Tyre Land, we are right near the Grameen Bank on Bus Stand Road. It’s a loud spot because of all the buses coming and going, but it’s good for business. We handle all sorts of tyres here. Most of the day is spent hauling heavy rubber around or using the machines to get a new tyre onto a rim. The floor is usually a bit greasy, and my hands are almost always black from the soot and rubber by lunchtime. We see a lot of local drivers and people passing through town who realized they have a bald tyre or a slow leak. It’s hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on the road outside. We have stacks of tyres reaching up to the ceiling in some parts of the shop. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s a workshop, so that’s expected. We don't have a big fancy waiting room, just a couple of stools if someone wants to sit while we work on their car. The Grameen Bank is just a stone's throw away, so people often drop their vehicle off and go do their banking while we finish up. It’s a steady rhythm of air compressors hissing and the sound of lug nuts being tightened. We’ve been here long enough that most of the regulars know us by name. It is a simple life but the work is always there and it keeps us busy from morning until evening.
