You can find us over at Kothihaat Chowk in Forbesganj, right on the Matiyari Road in Ward Number 2. We have been based in this spot for a long time now. Since this is an agricultural area, we spend most of our time dealing with the farmers who come in from all around the district. The store is usually full of heavy sacks and various tools meant for the fields. It is a bit of a maze inside with all the stock piled up high toward the ceiling. You can usually smell the earth and the fertilizers the moment you walk through the door. Most of the folks who come in are regulars we have known for years. We end up talking about the weather and the timing of the rain more than anything else, because that is what really matters for the crops. It is a simple kind of life. We try to keep track of what is needed for each specific season. When it is finally planting time, it gets really hectic around here. People are always in a hurry and we are busy loading bags onto carts and trucks all day long. My back usually feels the weight of it by the time evening rolls around. Forbesganj has its own slow pace, and we just follow along with it. We do not use any fancy systems for everything; sometimes the old paper ledger works best.
