Shri Krishna Rice & General Mills

Shri Krishna Rice & General Mills operates out of Shop No. 36-A in the New Grain Market. Our location is very close to the main bus stand, so we hear the constant sound of horns and engines all day long. Being in the grain market means our schedule is tied to the crops. We handle rice milling but also deal in general goods that people in this trade might need. The shop is usually full of samples of grain and various sacks piled up in the corners. It’s a busy environment where people are always shouting over the noise of the buses or the loading crews. We start our work very early, often when it is still dark, to prepare for the arrival of the first trucks. The proximity to the bus stand is good for business because it makes it easy for people from out of town to find us. Our office area is just a corner of the shop with a couple of benches and a table where we talk to customers. There is no air conditioning or fancy furniture here, just a fan and some old registers. We deal with all kinds of people, from big transporters to small farmers with just a few bags to sell. The work is repetitive and can be exhausting during the peak months, but we just keep at it day after day. It is a practical, no-nonsense kind of place where we focus on the movement of goods.
