Punjab Engineering Works

We spend most of our days right here on G. T. Road in Talwandi Bhai. It gets pretty loud with all the traffic passing by, but we are used to it by now. The workshop is usually a bit messy with metal scraps and tools lying around where someone just finished a job. We mostly work on machinery parts and whatever else people bring in from the farms nearby. It is a lot of grinding and welding. Sometimes the tea breaks last a bit longer when a neighbor drops by to chat. We have been in this spot for a while and the walls are stained with oil, which shows how much work goes on here. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons. Most of us have greasy hands by lunchtime. We don't really have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a desk in the corner with a bunch of old ledgers and some spare parts sitting on top of them. People know where to find us because of the big sign and the sound of the hammers. It is steady work and keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something that needs fixing or a piece of metal that needs cutting. We just get on with it and try to finish what we started before the power goes out or it gets too dark to see clearly. We've got a lot of stories from over the years, mostly about difficult repairs or late nights spent finishing a big project.
