Arora Rice & General Mills

We are located over on Abohar Road. It is a good spot for a mill because it is easy for the big trucks to get in and out without much trouble. Arora Rice & General Mills has been part of this landscape for a long time. We aren’t doing anything revolutionary here. We just mill rice and handle general agricultural processing. It is dusty work and it wears you out by the end of the week, but it is what we do. We have a small crew and we all know our roles. Some days the weather makes things very difficult, like when it rains suddenly and we have to cover every pile up fast. Other days it is just smooth sailing under the sun. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising. Word of mouth usually gets people to our door. We are just regular people trying to run a steady business. The machinery is loud and requires constant grease and attention. We do most of the repairs ourselves when something breaks. It is better that way because you learn how every part of the mill works. We see the same farmers every year during the harvest. They know us and we know them. It is a community thing, really. We just keep our heads down and keep the mill running as best as we can. It is not a glamorous life, but it is ours and we are used to the rhythm of the machines and the grain.
