Shree Raghav Glass Works

We are right on Station Road, which means it is never quiet. You have the trains, the people rushing to catch them, and all the noise from the street vendors. Our workshop is full of glass. Big sheets leaning against the walls, small scraps in the bins. We do a lot of cutting and smoothing edges. You have to be real careful where you put your hands around here. It is a bit of a dusty place because of the grinding process. We have been here at this location for a long time. The floor is concrete and usually has a bit of water on it from the cooling tools. We don't have a big fancy showroom. If you come in, you'll see us in our aprons working on a piece of mirror or a window pane. Sometimes the glass breaks when you don't want it to, and you just have to start over. That’s just how it goes with this material. We take orders from people in the neighborhood or folks passing by the station. It gets busy in the afternoons, and the shop can feel pretty small when there are three or four big glass sheets waiting to be moved. We just do our work and go home when the sun sets. It’s a lot of manual labor but we are used to the rhythm of the street.
