Shree Bala Jee Rice & General Mills

Shree Bala Jee Rice & General Mills is located in Village Focal Point Rana. We are right opposite the Mandi, which makes things convenient but also very loud during the busy times. This is in the Fazilka tehsil. Being opposite the Mandi means we see every truck that comes into the village. Our mill handles rice and some other general milling tasks. The building is a big blocky thing made of brick and cement. It’s got a big yard where we pile things up. We don’t really have a front desk or a lobby. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to find someone walking around the floor with a clipboard. The village life is slow except for when the crops come in. Then, Fazilka gets very busy. We spend a lot of time maintaining the machinery because the parts get worn out from all the grit. It’s a tough job but it’s what we do. The Focal Point area was meant to be for businesses like ours, so we have a few neighbors doing similar work. We use simple tools and the same methods we’ve used for years. It’s honest work. Sometimes we sit outside on the charpoy during the evening when it’s a bit cooler. You can see the lights of the Mandi across the way. It’s not a fancy life, but the mill keeps us busy and the village is home for us.
