Rajinder Rice & General Mill

If you take the Jalalabad Road, you will find Rajinder Rice & General Mill right near the Maan Godown. It is easy to spot because of the traffic coming in and out of the godown area. Our place is pretty straightforward. We have the milling equipment set up in the main shed and the storage spaces surrounding it. It is a lot of work keeping everything clean, or at least as clean as a mill can be. The floors are concrete and there is always a bit of grain tucked into the corners. We spend our days checking the machines and making sure the bags are stacked right. The sun hits the front of the building hard in the afternoon, so we try to do the heaviest loading when it is still cool. Being near the godown means there is always someone around, either a driver or someone looking for work. We have a few old trees near the entrance where people wait. It is a basic setup, no bells or whistles. We handle the rice as it comes, and when the season ends, we spend our time fixing what broke during the rush. It is a cycle that has been going on for a long time. People stop by to chat or ask about the market. We just focus on the machines and the piles of grain that need processing before the day ends.
