Punjab Sodawater Factory

You’ll find the Punjab Sodawater Factory right on the Main Road in Baga Bazaar. We’re near the Shama Side Wala Chowk in the Jalalabad West part of Fazilka. It’s an old-school kind of place. The factory is always filled with the sound of the soda machines and the clinking of glass bottles hitting each other on the line. It’s a bit wet and noisy inside, which is just how a soda factory usually is. We’ve been making soda here for a long time, and the building shows its age, but the machines still run fine. Baga Bazaar is a very busy market, so there’s always a lot of noise coming in from the street too. We spend our days filling bottles, checking the gas levels, and stacking the wooden crates. It’s physical work and your hands are usually cold from the water, but we don’t mind it. People from all over Jalalabad come to this chowk, and we’ve become a bit of a fixture in the area over the years. We don’t use any high-tech systems; we just do things the way they’ve been done since we started. The floor is usually a bit slippery and there’s always a crate that needs mending. It’s a simple, honest business, just making soda for the local shops and keeping the machines turning in the bazaar. We just keep moving through the daily stack of crates.
