Hans Studio

Down on Dav College Road in Jalalabad, you can find us at Hans Studio. It is a place where we take photos and help people capture some memories. We have our cameras and a few lights set up in the back part of the shop. Most mornings start with dusting off the equipment and checking the prints from the day before. People come in for all sorts of things like passport photos or sometimes a family wants a proper portrait together. The street outside gets quite loud when the college students are moving about but inside it stays fairly quiet most of the time. We spend a lot of our hours looking at screens and adjusting the colors on pictures before they get printed out. It’s a small team here and we all do a bit of everything from greeting people at the door to handling the camera. Sometimes we have to go out for shoots at weddings or local events which means packing up all the bags and making sure the batteries are charged. The shop has a lot of old frames and samples hanging up on the walls which have been there for years. It feels like a second home to us because we spend so much of our lives within these four walls. We just focus on getting the shots right and making sure the prints look okay when they come out of the machine.
