Arora Rice Mill

We are located on Fazilka Road, right by the Reliance petrol pump. It’s a good landmark because everyone stops there for fuel. Arora Rice Mill is a busy spot, especially in the winter months. The air gets cold, and the steam from the parboiling unit looks like thick fog. We’ve got a lot of space for storage, but it fills up fast when the harvest starts coming in. The floor is always covered in a fine yellow dust from the husks. I spend a lot of time in the small shed we use as an office, trying to keep the receipts straight. It’s not a very organized system, but I know where everything is. The workers stay in a small house behind the mill. We are like a big family, really. We eat lunch together under the neem tree when it’s hot. The machines we use are older, but they are reliable. My dad bought them second-hand twenty years ago. Sometimes we have to wait a week for a part to come from the city, and those are the days we just spend cleaning and painting the walls. We don't bother with fancy talk or marketing. People just bring their grain, we process it, and they take it away. It’s a simple exchange. The trucks lined up on the road can be a bit of a headache for the police, but they know us.
