Aman Kirana Store

Aman Kirana Store is located right on the Main Road in Village Arniwala. We are near the bus stand, so there are always people walking past. Some are waiting for the bus to Fazilka Tehsil and they pop in for a cold drink or some biscuits. We are in the Kailash Nagar and Arya Nagar area. It is a very dusty spot because of all the traffic on the road. I have to clean the jars and shelves almost every hour. I started this shop because there wasn't much on this side of the road. Now we have everything from cooking oil to washing powder. It is a family thing, so you might see my brother or my nephew helping out behind the counter. We know almost everyone in the village by name. The farmers come in after working in the fields to get their supplies. It gets very hot here in the peak of summer, so we keep the fan running all day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit in the shade of the doorway. We don't have any big advertisements. People just know we are here by the bus stand. It is a simple life and the work is steady. I usually stay open until quite late in the evening when the last buses have gone. Dealing with different types of people all day is interesting.
