Shilu Rice Mill

Shilu Rice Mill is tucked away in Village Khajuha, which is part of the Bakewar Sarai post area in Fatehpur district. We are quite easy to find if you look for the big talab, or pond, nearby. Being out in the village means things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Most of our work depends on the seasons and when the farmers bring in their crops. The mill itself is an old structure, and the equipment has seen a lot of use over the years. We spend our days surrounded by fields and the sound of the machines. There is always a layer of dust on everything, but that’s expected in a rice mill. We know just about everyone in Khajuha and the surrounding villages. When it’s harvest time, we are busy from dawn until late at night. The rest of the year is a bit more relaxed. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures. If someone needs us, they usually just stop by or send a message with someone passing through the area. It’s a simple setup, really. We just make sure the rice is cleaned and processed correctly. Sometimes we sit outside by the pond during our breaks to get some fresh air. It’s a quiet place to work, and we like the independence of running our own small mill out here in the countryside where things are more familiar and direct.
