Sanghi Cement Company

We’ve been working out of Khakhreru for quite a while now. Our small office is situated right at the P.O. Khakhreru address in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh. It’s not exactly a bustling city center, but for what we do with the cement company, it works out just fine. Most of our mornings start the same way. We get in early before the heat becomes too much to handle, as this part of UP can get incredibly hot by midday. We sit around the old wooden desk, have some tea, and go over the delivery schedules for the day. There is always a lot of dust because, well, it’s a cement business, and there’s no point in pretending otherwise. You just get used to it on your clothes and your shoes. The local people around here know us well. They stop by to chat or to ask about when the next truck is coming in from the main plant. We don’t have any fancy computer systems that do everything for us; it’s mostly manual ledgers and phone calls to the drivers who are often stuck in traffic or dealing with some road repair somewhere. It’s a simple way of living and working. We don't use big words or have long meetings. We just make sure the bags of cement get to the builders in the village and the surrounding areas so they can finish their houses. It feels good to see the stuff we move being used to build the community around us.
