Anybhav General Store

Out here in Peepal Gaon, things move a bit slower than in the middle of Allahabad city. Our shop is just a plain room filled with sacks and boxes. We are in the Phulpur area, and everyone around here knows each other. Usually, people come in to buy a few things and stay to talk about the weather or the crops. We have salt, spices, and those plastic toys that the local kids always point at. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time yet. My brother handles the heavy lifting when the flour sacks arrive. We don't really have set hours, but we are almost always open if the sun is up. The light inside is a bit dim because we only have one small window in the back. Sometimes a stray dog sits under the shade of our front awning to escape the heat. We keep the ledger in a drawer that sticks a little bit every time you pull it. It is nothing fancy, just a place to get your daily needs without having to travel all the way into the main town. We try to keep enough stock so people don't go back empty-handed. If we don't have something, we usually get it on the next trip to the city. It is a quiet life here in the village. We like it that way.
